As we step into June and get ready for long summer days, BBQs, and beach weekends, it’s also the perfect time to give your home a little attention. Taking care of small maintenance tasks now can help you avoid bigger (and more expensive) problems down the road.

Here’s a simple but effective June home maintenance checklist to keep your home running smoothly:

1. 🎉

Clean Up the Holiday Decor

Still have spring or Memorial Day decorations out? Now’s the time to store them away. Keeping things tidy and seasonal helps your space feel fresh and clutter-free.

2. 🛠️

Clean & Protect Exposed Pipes

Check exposed pipes, especially in the basement, garage, or crawl space. Wipe them down and look for signs of corrosion or leaks. Consider wrapping them with insulation if they’re vulnerable.

3. 🧼

Do a Deep Cleaning

It’s not just for spring! Deep cleaning in June helps maintain a healthy home—think baseboards, behind furniture, ceiling fans, and windows. Tackle those forgotten corners and breathe easier all summer.

4. 🔩

Tighten and Clean Hardware

Go through cabinets, doors, and drawers to tighten any loose screws or handles. Clean off any grime or fingerprints for a polished look.

5. 🚿

Clean Shower Heads

Mineral buildup can clog shower heads and reduce water pressure. Remove them if possible and soak in vinegar to dissolve deposits—your showers will thank you!

6. 🚰

Clean Pop-Up Sink Mechanisms

These areas collect hair and grime fast. Remove the pop-up stoppers from your sinks, clean thoroughly, and replace for smoother drainage and fewer odors.

A little home care each month goes a long way. Whether you’re planning to stay put or considering selling in the near future, keeping your home in great shape preserves its value and livability.
